    Play station 3

My father-in-law just purchased a ps3 and ive spent quite a bit of time on it so i can give you an unbiased opinion. First off the 40 Gig system only comes with composite cables(standard def.)which means you have to buy a $30 HDMI cable and a $20 fiber optic audio cable. It has built in wireless network capability. The controller is extremely light and the triggers are hard to utilize for racing. The HDD is partitionable and you can install a 3rd party operating system, now why you would want to is beyond me but you can. The menus (dashboard) are very confusing and difficult to navigate. The playstation store is confusing! The download times for similar sized files take longer on PSN than on LIVE. The graphics are nice but not much if any better than 360's. The blue ray player rocks fantastic picture quality. PSN multiplayer runs fine but the mesaging system sux compared to LIVE. The PS3 has a built in web browser, now this seems useless but i used to be one of the few ppl on live who didnt have a pc so i could see how this could be a nice feature however its a real pain in the ass to use. As far as i know your only choice for headsets are either a wired USB that connects to the PS3 directly not to the controller or a bluetooth which is expensive when compared to the 360 non wireless headsets. The Gran Tourismo demo is great, for a demo. It has similar driving physics to Forza 2 but adds drift trials as a fun feature also one of the little things i noticed was that when you hit the brakes the nose of your car dives which was cool. Now there is no damage in GT but the traction control is adjustable and you can select different tires for front and rear. So in conclusion the PS3 is a nice machine with nice features and more long term potential but the user friendliness of the 360 and its practicality probably make it the superior machine. I wont be switching to the darkside anytime soon! I will just have to hope for a more reliable 360 in the very near future and some new games cuz im so freaking tired of Laggy ass spawn fest (Rainbow 6). those of you who say cod4 is too fast and frantic really should give america's army a try, its a tactical shooter that closely resembles GRAW.
